i prefer the xp version. Yes, you can run hotmail messenger, and if you can get it on the system you can use office as well. it shudnt be hard, but the aspire one has no optical drive. you can just copy the items onto a flash drive tho.

Hey dude, I’m considering buying this laptop. Since I plan on getting the exact same model, I would appreciate if you could answer a few questions I have. Is the 8.9 inch screen big enough? I mean, as in reading webpages and small print without having to zoom? How well is the performance with the Intel Atom 1.6GHz processor? Is it somewhat durable? Does it get scratches on the glossy areas easily over time? Could you give me some pros and cons you’re seen over time? Thanks alot for the help! :)

the 8.9 inch screen is an alrite size, i do find myself zooming on web pages that hav small print or ong, but it should be ok. The processor is excellent. i hav had way less problems than i expected. Windows Xp works fine on it, and i hav had it freeze maybe once on me if that. it does run a tad slugggish at times, but that is rare. U will be able to throw this in a bag and nothing will happen and it does include a leather sleeve. there will be scratchs and smudges over time, but hardley noticebl
