How Much Does A New Hard Drive For An Acer Aspire 3620 Notebook Cost And Where Can I Buy One?

A virus completely destroyed my computer’s hard drive and the only way to salvage the computer is to buy a new hard drive. The problem is… I’m having difficulty finding one, even online. Help would be appreciated.

That laptop uses a standard 2.5″ P-ATA IDE drive, which can be widely purchased online; I recommend NewEgg.com as a good starting place. Your best bet may be to purchase one through Acer directly, or at least call them and ask for a part number of a replacement and then find the same one (likely cheaper) online. A third option is to pop out the current hard drive and look for an identical drive online. I find it hard to believe that a virus destroyed the hard drive in any sort of physical way though. It’s likely that using a bootable CD you could reformat the hard drive and that it would be completely useable again.

I agree with the 1st answer .But you should be able to get an external portable harddrive & that is also a 2.5 size laptop hard drive & if you carefully remove the case around the drive, you can remove the hd & put it in your laptop,as long as you can upgrade to whatever gigs the new hd is. Depending on how old the lap is. You can also put the old hd in the casing & then plug it into your desktop (run a virus scan on the drive first from your desktop)& then you can reformat the old hd.
