For a $450 Acer laptop, how long should the battery last?

Mine last about an hour on maximum performance and on a good day over 3 and up to almost 4 hours on the power saver setting.
Is this normal?
Is this a good battery life or crap?
How long do normal batteries last? and Are there any cheap portable batteries out their?
Or any hand crank generators that i could use to hook my battery plug into and power it back up that way “I don’t care it it takes a lot of work”.

I am currently looking for a good laptop to take with me to college next year. I looked at some Dell laptops and like what I see except for the poor battery life that many people complain about. Does any laptop brand have this problem or is it just Dell?
Hibernate or Standby mode? Which is healthier for a laptop connected to ac adapter without battery back in?

I know the main differences of the two. I want to leave my laptop on all the time, but i’m scared that it might be detrimental to its components if left on over extended period of time. Juding from the research i collected, i think standby is healthier for whati want to do, but i need someone to confirm it or argue against with good valid reasons. I’m not going to keep applications running and i will save any important documents. I’m jsut wondering if in the long run i will get more use out of my computer. I’m trying to astleat keep it for two and half years or max 3 years. By then i’m sure this acer aspire 5002 wlmi will be dead technoloogy and i will need to upgrade. Please assume that i won’t drop it or bang it around more than usual. Again i will repeat the question. Is Hibernate or standby mode healthy for the computer, provided by the details that were mentioned above.
Is it better to turn the laptop completely off then?

I’m replacing my Acer laptop battery (2200 mAh, 14.8V) with one that has 4400 mAh, 14.8V.
About how much longer will the new battery last?
The battery I have lasts about 1 hour, but I got it 2nd hand – I don’t know how long it lasted when new.

I heard Snow Leopard makes Safari pretty fast compared to right now. Have any developers noticed that it’s faster?

it is a new battery but my nephew left the laptop on the charger for a long time!!!

I just bought an Acer Aspire One that was said to have been one of the display version in the shope. The LED status indicator lights orange for the battery status. I was expecting this to be green since my previous laptop battary status (Dell) was shown in green and only turned orange when there was problem. The light is stable and not flickering, but I’m still wondering if the orange may be an indication of problem, in case I need to return in time.
I need a good external laptop battery for my Acer Travelmate C310 and C314xmi. Can anyone recommend a good one?

I have Acer Aspire 4920G, I don’t like to take out the battery because when the electricity got problem it will likely spoil my system because of unexpected shutdown.
But if I keep charging it overtime, the battery will be spoiled in short time also.
So, do anyone knows how to set my Acer laptop to stop charging the battery when its plugged in with full battery??
