Please help me!
Please explain so I can easily understand what could be the broken part(s) on my laptop. First, I’ll explain the situation (the nightmare). My reactions and actions are quite foolish, and I realize that, so I ask that you don’t critique them rudely. I just need help.
A bowl of soup was spilled on the left third or so of the keyboard of my Acer 5620Z laptop. I was so shocked that it took me a few seconds to realize that under the keyboard through the vent in the same area but under, soup had seeped in there, as well. I rushed to remove all of the liquid that I could, and meanwhile, the laptop turned itself off. Frantically, I tried to see if it would turn on again, and when i did this the computer went slightly haywire, and eventually shut down with a screen that went from gray to black, maybe the top half of the screen went black immediately after the bottom half. I noticed a little bit of a burning smell, as well. I placed the computer upside down with the battery removed within 2 minutes of the incident, and the laptop has not worked at all since. Even when the charger is plugged in, the computer shows no sign of charging. The charging light does not light up.
Also, please tell me what parts and if any from a Toshiba Satellite of approximately the same size will work (if you need the model #, ask).
Thank you so much! If I have questions, I’ll use the Y!A email contact function (no email directly for security purposes).
My budget to fix the computer is <$50. More like $10, actually. $0 ideally.
Rude/inappropriate/unhelpful answers will be reported.
The amount of soup spilled was only about 1/8 of a cup if I had to guess off the top of my head.
That’s what I suspected. Do I need any particular type of motherboard?
Man, my dad was an engineer who knew how to fix any problem… I don’t know how much one costs…
